1. A $5B startup emerges from stealth with a new class of AI hardware: Etched is launching frontier inference clusters — state-of-the-art chips, racks, and software all designed to run today's AI models faster and more efficiently. It starts shipping this summer, and the timing couldn’t be better: AI demand has left chips, memory, and power providers straining to keep up. Read the viral announcement (5M views).
2. Google's agentic assistant arrives on Mac: Gemini Spark can now work directly with local files on your computer via the macOS app, taking on tasks like sorting a cluttered Downloads folder or turning desktop files into a new doc or sheet. The company says phone-to-Mac remote task execution is coming soon. Now available in beta for Google AI Ultra members. Learn more.
3. Meta is reportedly building a cloud business to rent out its AI compute: Meta is developing plans for a new segment, internally dubbed Meta Compute, to sell AI models and compute capacity, similar to AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. This comes as Meta has committed a staggering $183B to AI infrastructure, but reportedly hasn’t seen significant demand for its own models and AI services. Meta’s stock jumped more than 8% on the news.

The subjectivity problem. Bridgewater’s AIA Labs and Thinking Machines teamed up to tackle a simple problem: teaching an LLM to surface relevant financial news. The task is easy for an investment advisor with decades of experience, but surprisingly tricky to teach a machine. The problem: relevancy is highly subjective. Top frontier models fell short originally, until the team made two critical changes.
Expert prompts. When given basic prompts, Gemini, Claude, and GPT averaged just 50% accuracy. A coin flip. But success rates jumped to the mid-70s after Bridgewater's own experts crafted detailed prompts. Counterintuitively, upgrading to newer, pricier models made little difference, boosting success rates by just a point or two.
Fine-tuning the model. The final unlock was fine-tuning Alibaba's Qwen3-235B on expert-labeled data. Accuracy jumped from 78% to 85%, while running about 14X cheaper per task when compared to leading frontier models. The final recipe: an open-weight model with a custom training recipe.
The bottom line. Bridgewater’s experience tracks with a Gartner study from April. Gartner found that the success of AI projects often isn’t determined by the sophistication of the model, but by how well it's integrated, governed, and aligned with real operational needs.

Click ‘Continue with ChatGPT’ > Login with your ChatGPT account
Upload your data (Excel, CSV, image, PDF or anything) and start prompting
