Anthropic CEO Called to Testify
ALSO: How to create stunning UIs with Replit’s Design agent

Welcome back, Superhuman. There’s no time like the holidays to bury bad news. While the US was getting ready to switch off for Thanksgiving, OpenAI admitted that a security breach earlier this month at analytics partner Mixpanel may have included profile information of OpenAI's developer platform users. OpenAI says its systems were not breached and users of ChatGPT are unaffected.
Today: Anthropic’s CEO called to testify, learn how to create stunning UIs with Replit’s Design agent, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.
TODAY IN AI
1. Anthropic CEO called to testify on recent cyberattack: The House Homeland Security Committee has reportedly asked Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei to testify at a December 17 hearing following the first reported AI-orchestrated cyber-espionage campaign. The committee commended Anthropic for self-reporting the attack and has also invited the CEOs of Google Cloud and Quantum Xchange to participate.
2. Perplexity rolls out AI-powered shopping, virtual try-on, and enhanced memory: The AI chatbot can now help you research and buy products directly in-app. It also launched virtual try-on, a feature that lets you test clothing on a digital avatar. Both updates reflect a broader trend towards AI-powered shopping, a segment Adobe projects will grow 520% this holiday season compared to last year.
3. Alibaba kicks off sales of Quark S1 smart specs in China: In a rare consumer gadget play for the e-commerce giant, the $537 Quark S1 undercuts Meta's $799 Ray-Ban Display glasses while packing many similar features: micro-OLED displays, cameras, bone conduction audio, and swappable batteries. The AI glasses integrate with Alibaba’s entire ecosystem, with international versions set to drop next year.

FROM THE FRONTIER
Does AI really save time? Anthropic analyzed 100,000 Claude chats and here’s what they found:

Made with Midjourney
Time is money. Anthropic recently analyzed 100,000 Claude conversations to determine if AI actually saves time. It was a three-part study: Using Claude, analyze each conversation to identify the task, record the completion time, and then estimate how long that same task would take without AI.
The verdict: 80% time savings. On average, Claude helped users complete tasks 80% faster, saving an estimated $55 in human labor. Extrapolating this takeaway to the broader economy, Anthropic estimates that current generation AI models could increase US labor productivity by 1.8% annually over the coming decade, not accounting for continued improvements in AI technology.
An imperfect study. While these results are exciting, Anthropic admits there are a few limitations. To start, the study hinges on Claude’s ability to estimate how long a given task might take to complete without AI, something that it lacks the context to do with complete accuracy. The study also measures task completion, not quality — a critical distinction.
The bottom line? Despite the study's limitations, the results seem overwhelming: AI is fundamentally changing how work gets done. Employees who don’t leverage AI might be spending 5x longer on tasks than those who do — a gap will likely widen as the technology improves.

PROMPT STATION
Reveal Hidden Consequences Before They Happen
Prompt: Deliver a comprehensive and structured analysis of the action’s impact chain, emphasizing clarity, logical reasoning, and probabilistic weighting.
# Impact Chain Analysis Framework
Analyze the impacts of **[your subject]** as follows:
**Subject** ━━┣━━> **Direct Impact** (Most likely effect, evidence: [H/M/L]) ━━> **Secondary Effect** (Ripple outcomes)
** **┣━━> **Side Effect** (Unintended consequences) ━━> **Tertiary Impact** (Broader implications)
** **┗━━> **Hidden Impact** (Overlooked or subtle effect) ━━> **Long-term Result** (Probable outcome)
### Instructions:
1. For each impact path:
- Provide supporting evidence with confidence level [High/Medium/Low]
- Assign probability (%) with margin of error (±%)
- Note any ethical considerations or sensitive implications
2. Clearly state key assumptions and limitations
3. Identify potential conflicting evidence or alternative viewpoints
### Evidence Quality Levels:
- **High**: Direct data, peer-reviewed research, or verified historical precedent
- **Medium**: Expert opinion, indirect evidence, or comparable case studies
- **Low**: Theoretical models, speculative analysis, or limited data
### Objective:
Provide a thorough analysis of your subject's impacts, including:
1. Clear cause-and-effect relationships
2. Evidence-based reasoning
3. Probability estimates
4. Unintended consequences
5. Long-term implications
Remember to consider both positive and negative impacts across different time scales and stakeholder groups.
