Anthropic launches Claude Opus 4.6 as a premier model for enterprise knowledge work: Anthropic released Opus 4.6, its most advanced AI model yet, achieving top scores for coding, financial analysis, and legal reasoning — all skills that are available within Claude Cowork. The model plans its responses better, needs less guidance for complicated workflows, and has a 1M context window for longer sessions. Within Claude Code, a key new feature is “agent teams”: a research preview that lets multiple AI agents work on the same task. 2. OpenAI launches GPT-5.3 Codex and OpenAI Frontier: OpenAI dropped GPT-5.3 Codex, its most capable coding model yet, setting new highs on SWE-Bench Pro (57%) and Terminal-Bench 2.0 (77%) while running 25% faster and using fewer tokens than any prior model. The AI leader also announced OpenAI Frontier: a new platform that helps enterprises build, deploy, and manage AI agents that can do real work. 3. Perplexity launches Model Council to help compare answers across AI models: Perplexity launched Model Council, a new feature that runs your query across three frontier AI models simultaneously (such as Claude Opus 4.5, GPT-5.2, and Gemini 3 Pro) then uses a synthesizer model to review all three outputs, resolve conflicts, and deliver one comprehensive answer. Alphabet crushes earnings as AI fuels almost every business line

Alphabet crushes earnings. Alphabet just became a $400-billion-a-year company. Its services division drove roughly $350B, Cloud contributed $70B in annual run rate, and YouTube generated $60B on its own (larger than Netflix's entire business). Alphabet’s business is on fire — and AI is playing the role of gasoline.

Gemini: the growth engine. CEO Sundar Pichai called Gemini 3 a “major milestone” — and the numbers back it up. The model now processes over 10 billion tokens per minute, the Gemini App has surpassed 750 million monthly users, and AI-powered Search is seeing record usage. But there was one AI initiative that Alphabet was hesitant to speak about.

The Apple partnership. In January, Apple chose Google as its preferred cloud provider and announced a multi-year deal to build the next generation of Apple Foundation Models on Gemini, including a major Siri overhaul coming this year. Leadership didn’t share a single detail, which suggests that the terms are still being finalized.

Google backs Big Tech’s vision. Almost every major tech company is doubling down on AI spending this year — Alphabet is no exception. The company plans to spend up to $185 billion on capital expenditures in 2026 (largely for AI infrastructure), roughly double the $91 billion it spent in 2025.
