Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 is back online

1. Anthropic launches Sonnet 5 and Claude Science: Claude Sonnet 5 is Anthropic's most agentic Sonnet model yet, rivaling the performance of Opus 4.8 but at a much cheaper price. 3. Google makes personalized image generation available to everyone and releases Nano Banana 2 Lite: Gemini’s personalized image generation — an opt-in feature that uses Gmail, Photos, and Search data to customize your photos — is now open for all eligible users. The tech leader also rolled out Nano Banana 2 Lite and Gemini Omni Flash, its fastest and cheapest image/video models yet, now available across most platforms. Two labor markets. US job openings held flat at 7.6M last May, unchanged from the previous month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. At the macro level, the labor market looks frozen. But underneath the freeze, a study from Ramp paints a slightly more optimistic picture of the labor market.

Emerging growth. Ramp analyzed roughly 22,000 companies and discovered that firms spending heavily on AI (considered to be $30 per employee per month) grew headcount at 10.2% in the two years following their adoption of AI. Entry-level roles grew even faster at 12%, while firms with low adoption saw no growth.

The catch. The paper's authors admit this data isn’t perfect. It skews heavily towards tech-forward, venture-backed firms that were likely already growing and hiring. But the authors were adamant on one point: while AI may not be creating jobs just yet, the data shows that it’s not destroying them either.

Reshaping work. Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman has a theory: AI isn’t eliminating roles, just reshaping them. Garman added, "I do think that half of white-collar jobs may change, but wipe out and change are different.” His comparison? Microsoft Excel — it eliminated manual-calculation jobs, but sparked a need for higher-level analyst roles.
