Welcome back, Superhuman. You’re living through one of the worst cyberattack periods in internet history, and AI is at the center. Things may get worse before they get better, so we’ve broken down what’s going on and how to protect yourself in today’s From the Frontier section.

Today: Canva launches a frontier image model, how to build a live business dashboard with Grok Bot, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.

TODAY IN AI

Learn about Canva’s first frontier model for image generation. Source: Canva.

1. Canva releases its first frontier image generation model: The design platform launched Canva Craft, its first in-house image model that plans each image’s layout before rendering it — a two-step approach Canva claims delivers more precise results. The company says Craft excels at generating people, nature, patterns, and text, while supporting 55 languages. Craft ranks 4th on Design Arena’s image generation leaderboard, trailing three OpenAI models. It’s available now in Canva’s Dream Lab and its API.

2. Meta proposes a new class of stock to help fund $825B in future spending: The social media giant’s new nonvoting shares will serve two purposes: raising capital for Meta’s AI ambitions and helping CEO Mark Zuckerberg pay a proposed 5% California wealth tax without losing voting control. Meta announced the decision alongside its Q3 earnings, where it reported stronger-than-expected revenue of $64B, up 26% from a year earlier. A separate filing revealed about $825B in future spending commitments.

3. Getty Images files for bankruptcy amid pressure from AI images: After its proposed merger with Shutterstock fell through, the stock image giant has begun a restructuring process designed to take the company private. Getty was valued at nearly $5B just four years ago but has struggled under heavy debt, ongoing pressure from smartphone photography, and new competition from AI-generated images. Read more.

Tracking AI spend is fairly easy, but understanding why it costs what it does (and what the actual ROI is), is a challenge for most teams.

How to build a live business dashboard with Grok Bot

  • Open Grok Bot and create a new Bot.

  • Connect the apps or files that contain the source data, such as Google Sheets, Excel, Notion, CRM exports, or internal dashboards.

  • Ask Grok Bot to create a new page from those sources using one detailed prompt.

Sample prompt: “Create a live dashboard for [team/business area] using data from [sources]. Show [5–8 KPIs], trends over [time period], major changes, risks, and anything that needs attention. Use clear KPI cards, charts, tables, and a short executive summary. Separate current facts from assumptions, cite the underlying sources, and keep the page concise enough for a weekly leadership review.”

  • Edit the page directly or message the Bot with targeted changes.

  • Once the format works, save the process as a Skill so the same structure and reporting rules can be reused.

  • Create a recurring Routine to refresh the page from the latest source data on your preferred schedule, so the dashboard stays up to date.

FROM THE FRONTIER

Black October: Here’s what we know so far about one of the worst cyberattack periods in internet history

Made with Midourney

It feels like March 2020, but for cyberattacks. That comparison came from former OpenAI chief futurist Joshua Achiam, and many others have shared the sentiment.

What’s going on? Researchers discovered critical vulnerabilities in PHP, a programming language used by 70% of websites. The flaws leaked before the patches fully went out, and exploit attempts scaled from thousands to millions within hours, fueled by agent swarms. Many sites took themselves offline while working on a fix, including Wikipedia, Archive.org, 4chan, and government pages. This attack was just one of many:

  • Banks are on alert: Axios reported that major banks have detected third-party agents operating inside customer accounts. While some were likely authorized by customers, banks are alarmed nonetheless. Banks were also attacked across India, Latin American, and South Korea.

  • There are large-scale nation-state campaigns: Microsoft reported that a China-aligned state actor has targeted hundreds of organizations globally with automated attacks.

Protecting Yourself. AI policy expert Peter Wildeford recommends taking these steps if you haven’t already:

  1. Use a good password manager and avoid using the same password across sites.

  2. Turn on two-factor authentication, preferably with an authenticator app instead of SMS.

  3. Update your devices and turn on auto-updates so they stay refreshed.

  4. Freeze your credit information.

  5. Consider asking your preferred LLM to audit your computer for any vulnerabilities.

Your team of people and agents need the controls of business software at the scale of infrastructure. Attio gives them both:

  • 1000x the agent traffic of a legacy CRM

  • Your whole CRM queryable in SQL

  • Every agent bound by your team's permissions
