China’s new AI image model steals the show
ALSO: How to create pro resumes with Claude

Welcome back, Superhuman. More and more of our lives and realities are shifting from the physical world to the digital realm. In Nepal, Gen-Z activists violently overthrew the government after officials blocked social media in the country. Yesterday, the activists created a virtual parliament in Discord to elect the country’s next leader. Meanwhile, Albania has appointed a new AI-made minister to reduce corruption.
Also Today: Microsoft and OpenAI shake hands, China’s new image model beats Nano Banana, and learn how to create pro resumes with Claude.
TODAY IN AI
1. OpenAI and Microsoft strike new deal: The agreement will let the ChatGPT maker restructure itself into a for-profit company, while its nonprofit keeps control, along with a stake worth over $100B. The deal still awaits regulatory approval. Meanwhile, Microsoft is also planning “significant investments” in its own AI models, signaling a diversified approach to AI that mixes internal models with partner tech.
2. New Chinese image model looks to rival ‘Nano Banana’: TikTok parent ByteDance has launched Seedream 4.0, a new AI image generation model that performs better than Google’s ‘Nano Banana’, according to some benchmarks. The model is priced competitively against ‘Nano Banana’ and is already gaining traction for movie storyboarding, photorealistic renders, and creative projects. See it in action here.
3. Claude’s new update gives the chatbot memory powers: The app can now remember previous conversations and carry context across projects automatically — but only for Team and Enterprise users. The feature helps Claude tailor responses to your team’s processes, client needs, and ongoing projects. Users can view and edit what Claude remembers, and optional incognito chats ensure private conversations aren’t stored. Admins can also disable memory at any time. See how to use the new features here.

Austin Allison sold his first company for $120M. He also served as an exec for Zillow. But both companies reached massive valuations before regular people had the chance to invest. So he built Pacaso differently.
They’ve made $110M+ in gross profits to date by disrupting the $1.3T vacation home market. No wonder the same VCs that backed Uber, Venmo, and eBay already invested in Pacaso.
And unlike his previous companies, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.

AI-powered drug discovery is getting a reality check after investors commit billions

Made with Midjourney
Funding for AI-driven drug discovery companies exploded from $30M in 2013 to $1.8B in 2021. But the rate of progress hasn’t quite kept up with the pace of funding — not a single AI-discovered drug has been approved for clinical use.
What went wrong? Simply, biological progress moves a lot slower than investor capital. Drugs must hit precise targets without causing major side effects; a task AI is currently incapable of managing alone. According to Daphne Koller, CEO of Insitro: “We are trying to fix something we do not understand because of the complexity of human biology.”
Early promising startups have struggled financially. BenevolentAI’s shares fell 99% before merging with a Japanese firm, and Exscientia was acquired by Recursion for far below its $2.9B peak valuation.
But the tech is catching up. Alphabet’s Isomorphic Labs, led by DeepMind cofounder Demis Hassabis, is betting AI can cut drug timelines from years to months. Since 2021, DeepMind has signed deals with Eli Lilly and Novartis, and raised $600M to pursue cancer and immune disorders. Startups like Atomwise are also using AI to accelerate drug discovery for diseases like Ebola and Leukemia.
The bottom line: Breakthroughs take time. AI is improving efficiency, precision, and data-driven decision-making, but approved therapies are likely at least a few years out. Progress hinges on deep computational power, rich datasets, and a stable stream of capital. The field is shaping up, but the full promise of AI in drug discovery is still on the horizon.
