Welcome back, Superhuman. Anthropic just turned Claude into your financial advisor. Whether that hurt budgeting-app stocks was impossible to say, though (more on that in today’s From The Frontier). Plus, a startup unveiled an AI touchscreen ring that anticipates your needs — and jumps in to help.
Today: Start reveals AI ring with a screen, how to build a working mobile app with Claude, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.
TODAY IN AI
1. Anthropic adds a personal finance hub to Claude: Personal Finance in Claude lets you link Claude to bank and card accounts to ask questions about your money. The lab stresses that Claude’s advice is unbiased, and that it cannot move, manage, or invest your money — only surface trends, explore future scenarios, and answer questions. It’s rolling out now in beta to US Pro, Max, and Ultra plans as a “Personal Finance” tab in Claude’s sidebar. Save these steps for help getting set up.
2. Hardware startup launches a context-aware AI smart ring with a screen: Aina is designed to help you avoid using your computer or phone by connecting to your devices, learning your schedule, and offering proactive suggestions throughout the day for you to approve. It can also receive voice instructions, control your devices, play music, and take calls. Pre-orders are open now, with the first devices shipping in early 2027.
3. Google ships a more cost-effective video model: Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash lets you create video clips up to 15 seconds long in Gemini (Ultra subscribers only). It also offers smoother camera moves, stronger cinematic controls, and reduced visual drift across scenes. For developers, the API pricing drops 30% from the previous generation to $0.07 per second for 720p video. Watch the new model in action, or explore all of Google’s biggest AI updates from October.

FROM THE FRONTIER
AI was on the ballot this week. The results weren’t very close, which has big implications for AI’s future.

Made with Midjourney
You don’t need to be a political analyst to interpret the sentiment behind America’s midterm elections this week:
Democrats retook the House and Senate, with many campaigning on increasing oversight of the AI industry.
Data center projects were restricted nearly across the board, ranging from full-scale bans to temporary pauses.
📈📉 The market had mixed feelings. Equities surged initially, followed by one of the worst single-day selloffs in US history a day later. The reason? It’s impossible to say for sure, but investors were likely concerned that new lawmakers will try to slow AI’s growth or even ban it altogether. However, some analysts believe the sharp downturn was an overreaction related to technical factors.
Here’s what else happened this week
We got face-reading glasses and an AI phone: Subvocal launched smart glasses that capture your silent whispers to let you dictate text without actually talking. Plus, Cyclon opened pre-orders for a cell phone that runs on an AI-first operating system.
Apple and Goldman Sachs reined in employee AI use: Apple is interested in cutting costs, while Goldman grew wary of non-engineers vibe coding their own projects.
OpenAI continued its image dominance: The lab released ChatGPT Images 2.6, which lets you create GIFs from any photo and landed near the top of Arena’s text-to-image leaderboard, joining OpenAI’s previous models.

Meme of the day
🌎 Location Reminder: Thariq Shihipar, who just left Anthropic, has agents send him location-based reminders to stay on top of easily forgettable tasks. See his go-to prompt.
🥣 Kevin’s Chili: A Redditor reimagined Kevin from The Office dropping his famous chili in every era of human history — yes, even including WWII. The tragic montage was created with ChatGPT Images, MiniMax H3, and Higgsfield.
😺 Cat Joins OpenAI: Cat Wu just left Anthropic to join OpenAI, marking the fourth key departure from the Claude Code team in weeks. The internet quickly noticed her X bio links to the wrong Anthropic (it goes to some guy named Paul who owns @anthropic).
🦾 Dots Updates: OpenAI’s personal agent got stronger this week. The lab just shipped 5 new upgrades, including the ability to share anything on your iPhone.
🎮 Gaming Renaissance: AI is empowering people to create and mash together new video games at will. One hobbyist shared a custom watercolor painting-style samurai game in a thread with 2.5M views that breaks down how they built it.
