Welcome back, Superhuman. OpenAI discontinued its AI-powered web browser, ChatGPT Atlas, just last week. But that void didn’t stay empty for long — one of the internet’s original search providers has teamed up with a rising startup to offer a privacy-first take on AI web browsing.

Today: Chip startup doubles valuation in under a month, how to reverse-engineer viral videos with AI, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.

TODAY IN AI

1. Firefox teams up with a startup to offer AI-powered internet search: Smart Window helps you explore the web by adding an optional chatbot that pulls live information from the internet and consolidates open tabs into categories. You choose which model Smart Window uses and which data it can access, with all information stored locally on your device and deletable at any time. It’s powered by Exa, an AI-first web search provider.

2. New chip startup doubles its valuation in under a month: Etched — the US-based startup pioneering a new type of AI semiconductor cluster — just delivered its first chip rack to the quantitative trading firm Jane Street. The successful delivery helped fuel a fresh $700M raise, pushing the company’s valuation to $21B — up from $10.3B in July, just weeks after emerging from stealth in late June. Read more.

3. OpenAI rolls out a safer ChatGPT for teenagers: ChatGPT for Teens adds stronger built-in safety protections, parental controls, and time constraints. It also introduces Study Mode, which walks teens through new concepts rather than just handing them answers (explore sample prompts for Study Mode). The new platform lands as OpenAI faces multiple lawsuits alleging ChatGPT exposed children to harmful content.

Teams often pick an API by checking a benchmark table and calling it done—a shortcut that could miss what really matters in production. This guide from You. com explains why raw latency is a misleading signal and what to measure instead.

FROM THE FRONTIER

AI is translating some of humanity’s earliest voices

Made with Midjourney

How’s your Ancient Sumerian? AI’s got a new use case: translating ancient languages. Specifically, 5,000-year-old cuneiform writing. The type you find on clay tablets from ancient Mesopotamian civilizations (modern-day Iraq and Syria). TabletCraft is just one of many examples.

Launched in 2026, TabletCraft is an AI model trained on 116,000 Akkadian-English translation examples. It can turn ancient Akkadian into English, vice versa, and even render results in cuneiform’s symbolic text. AI shortens the process dramatically, but still requires human oversight to ensure accuracy.

Translation is just one way AI is unlocking human history.

Unraveling mysteries of the past (literally)

Scorched by the Mount Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD, Italy’s ancient Herculaneum scrolls have been written off as unreadable for nearly two millennia. Progress was frozen. Until University of Kentucky researchers discovered a method to virtually unwrap the scrolls using AI and advanced imaging.

  • The digital unwrapping revealed 5 feet of text, enough for researchers to read the scrolls as complete arguments, not fragments.

  • This new text will unlock authors, ideas, and arguments “previously unknown” to history, ushering in a new era for studying the ancient world. Read the full story here.

We talk a lot about how AI is shaping humanity’s future — but maybe not enough about how it’s unlocking our past.

How to Reverse-Engineer Viral Videos with AI

  • Find a viral video on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube (look for high views, saves, and shares)

  • Download the video

  • Upload it to Gemini

  • Ask Gemini to analyze the video and generate a 30-second script based on the hook, pacing, and structure

Sample Prompt: Analyze this video and break down the hook (first 3 seconds), the structure and pacing, and explain why it works psychologically. Then create a new 30-second script using the same format for this topic: [insert topic]. Make it fast-paced, punchy, and optimized for Instagram/TikTok.

  • Gemini will generate a script you can use to create your next viral video
