TODAY IN AI

Amazon is reportedly working on its own reasoning model. Source: Reuters

1. Amazon has its own reasoning model in the works: The e-commerce giant isn’t letting an $8B partnership with Anthropic get in the way of its AI ambitions. It plans to take on DeepSeek and OpenAI with its own chain-of-thought model, which could be ready by June. The LLM will be a “hybrid” that can seamlessly move between speedy responses and more thought-out ones just like Anthropic’s recently released Claude 3.7 — but supposedly with even better efficiency.

2. Salesforce launches first-ever marketplace for AI agents: Salesforce predicts agents — AI that can do complex tasks for you — will add $6T to the global economy by 2030. To speed up that transformation, the software giant just unveiled AgentExchange, a platform that lets companies easily find pre-built agents or design their own with templates. Users can even leave reviews, helping the best agents rise to the top.

3. Frontier LLMs face their toughest test yet — beating Super Mario: Researchers at UC San Diego found that the 1985 Nintendo game is an especially useful tool to test models’ problem-solving skills. That’s because the LLMs don’t get any special training — they’re just expected to learn the ropes based on prompts and screenshots. So far, Claude 3.7 has held onto the top slot, leaving Gemini 1.5 and GPT-4o in the dust. It happens to be especially good at Pokémon, too.

Microsoft’s new AI agent helps sales teams land more deals

When Microsoft was brainstorming which roles to create a new AI agent for, sales quickly rose to the top of the list. That’s because both sellers and their clients say they’re weighed down by monotonous tasks that can make it harder to close deals. “The experience today is so brittle and fragile and unloved,” Bryan Goode, Microsoft’s CVP of Business Applications and Platform, told Superhuman.

That’s where the company’s new Sales Development Agent comes in:

  • Microsoft says it can research leads, set up meetings, and even close low-level deals on its own.

  • “If you’re a seller, one of the things that’s so tough is the fact that your quota’s going up — you’ve got to find a way every year to be better than the year before,” Goode said.

  • The goal is to give sellers more time to land bigger deals that still require a human touch.

Microsoft is also rolling out a Sales Chat Agent in Copilot that can help you quickly research a new account — bringing together key details from the web, CRM data, pitch decks, and your own meetings. Finally, it’s launching an AI accelerator for sales — a program that teaches sales teams how to integrate AI into their workflows.

A mountain of flavor

Midjourney Prompt: A stunning landscape emerges from a cup of iced coffee - snow-capped mountains, rivers, clouds. Real, crystal clear glass, vortex of milk and black coffee mixed in the glass, creating an accidental and ephemeral scene, ice cubes floating on top of the glass, condensation forming on the sides. Milk flows naturally, forming soft and flowing shapes that resemble valleys, peaks or dramatic skies. Snowy mountains in the background. --ar 2:3 --style raw --quality 2 --stylize 250
