1. Gemini is now available as a standalone Mac app: Once installed, just hit Option + Space and Gemini will jump into your screen to answer queries based on whatever it can see. Allbirds announced one of the most unexpected business pivots ever — and its stock soared 600+%

Remember Allbirds? The shoemaker built a cult-like following in the early 2020s with its eco-friendly wool shoes. It went public in 2021 and shares surged 90% on day one — but it’s been all downhill since then. Sales slumped, shares followed, and the stock dropped from $20 to $2.5. But the brand has a new business plan to turn things around: AI compute infrastructure.

Sole searching. Allbirds has raised $50M and is spinning up a fresh entity to pursue its new venture. Name? NewBird AI. Mission statement? To become a “fully integrated GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and AI-native cloud solutions provider.” Translation: buying and leasing compute for AI.

Still selling shoes. Don’t sprint to an Allbirds outlet just yet. The company sold its intellectual property to a brand management firm for $39M, and the new owner plans to keep products on shelves. Not literal shelves though — the company recently shuttered all but two stores.

Bird's-eye view. This type of headline feels familiar. Like when Long Island Iced Tea rebranded to Long Blockchain during Bitcoin's boom. Or when countless retailers tacked ".com" onto their names in the early-2000s. Only time will tell if NewBird is capitalizing on a major market — or the canary in the AI coal mine.
