Meta's new AI predicts the human brain

ALSO: How to create 3D apps and websites with AI

Welcome back, Superhuman. Yesterday felt like a Black Mirror episode. First, Meta released an AI that predicts human brain activity. Then, a startup announced that they’re building “humanity’s platform for uploaded consciousness” — more on that in our In The Know section.

Today: Learn about TRIBE v2, how to create 3D apps and websites with AI, and get trending social media posts.

1. Meta reveals AI model that models human brain behavior: TRIBE v2 is a foundation model that predicts human brain activity across vision, sound, and language — trained on data from roughly 700 volunteers. The tech leader released the model, its codebase, and a demo with the goal of accelerating medical research breakthroughs, like better understanding and treating neurological disorders. 2. Gemini 3.1 Flash Live gets embedded into Gemini and Search Live: Google released Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, a new voice model geared towards making audio AI more fluid and natural. The model now powers Gemini Live, allowing for 2X longer conversations, faster responses with fewer awkward pauses, and tone adjustment depending on context. Watch Gemini Live’s improved capabilities here.

3. English Wikipedia bans AI-generated articles: The internet’s largest source of information has made its stance clear: AI can be used to refine or translate articles, but not write them. Wikipedia reached this conclusion because LLM-generated text often violates its three core content policies: making articles neutral, verifiable, and attributed to reliable sources.

Financial fraud is skyrocketing worldwide, and as bad actors deploy easily accessible AI tools, traditional fraud-prevention measures are no longer holding up.

So, how can you protect your org? It starts with AI-enhanced security. Inside Plaid’s latest report, they outline the playbook:

  • Why point-in-time verification is breaking down

  • How AI-driven fraud scales faster than traditional controls

  • Why financial behavior offers stronger, harder-to-fake context

FROM THE FRONTIER

This economic theory from 1865 argues that we’re headed for an AI age of abundance

Made with Midjourney

The age of abundance? There’s legitimate concern that AI will replace jobs at every level. But a 160-year-old economic theory offers a counter-argument: While AI will replace some jobs, it will also unlock economic growth that was previously impossible. Early data suggests this might already be happening.

The paradox. In 1865, economist William Stanley Jevons observed something counterintuitive: a new steam engine that burned far less coal didn't reduce society’s coal consumption — it increased it. Coal was suddenly cheap enough to power factories, railways, and steamships that previously nobody had considered building. He called this Jevons’ Paradox: when technology makes something more efficient, society doesn't use less of it. It uses far more. A similar scenario may be playing out with AI.

A turnaround in job growth. Data from TrueUp shows that tech hiring is starting to pick up after collapsing in 2023 following the Covid-19 pandemic. Open engineering positions just hit a 3-year high at 67,000+ globally, AI-specific postings have jumped 117% annually, and recruiter demand is surging back toward 2022 peaks — a leading indicator that companies are planning to expand.

The next wave. This growth is currently confined to tech, which overlaps the most closely with AI. But as AI adoption spreads — and if Jevons’ Paradox plays out — it could lead to an abundance of new projects, roles, and ventures that were previously too expensive or complex to pursue.
