Welcome back, Superhuman. Microsoft just one-upped the agentic AI race with Scout, a 24/7 assistant that doesn’t even need a prompt, along with seven new models. Not to be outdone, OpenAI beefed up Codex with 110 new skills for office work as part of its ongoing mission to take on Claude Cowork.

Today: Learn about Microsoft Scout, how to turn emails into client decks with AI, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.

1. Microsoft debuts new models and an always-on AI worker that acts before you ask: At Microsoft Build 2026, Microsoft unveiled Scout, its first "Autopilot" agent that it claims will monitor your account and take proactive action — prepping meetings, identifying To Dos, and more. It’s powered by OpenClaw and available through Microsoft’s Frontier program. The tech leader also revealed 7 new in-house AI models and plenty more during Build. Read the full breakdown.

2. OpenAI expands Codex into a general workplace tool: OpenAI also released 6 new role-specific plugins spanning 62 apps and 110 skills for knowledge workers, all aimed at turning Codex into a general-purpose workplace tool. The AI leader also launched Sites for Codex, letting you spin up deployable websites or apps from just a prompt, each with a shareable URL. Watch Sites in action (3M+ views).

3. Nous Research unveils Hermes Desktop: The Hermes Agent, the popular self-improving AI agent, is now available as Hermes Desktop for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The MIT-licensed agent can handle a wide range of tasks for you and runs across Slack, email, WhatsApp, and more — with persistent memory across platforms. See how Hermes Desktop works (2M+ views).

FROM THE FRONTIER

AI is making it cheaper and more realistic to “try crazier things”

Made with Midjourney

Chasing crazy. In an interview with OpenAI, mathematician Terence Tao says that AI gives him the ability to “try crazier things” through rapid experimentation. While we tend to focus on AI’s ability to spin up websites or spreadsheets, some of its biggest advancements are increasingly landing in the lab.

Predicting the weather. WindBorne Systems is building what it calls a “planetary nervous system” — a platform that’s forecasting storms more accurately than leading government agencies. It works via a 10,000-strong global balloon constellation that feeds data to WeatherMesh, its deep learning model that spits out forecasts up to 100,000X faster than traditional methods.

Building digital twins. Mantis Biotech is developing synthetic datasets and physics-based "digital twins" of the human body. The goal? To fill gaps where real medical data is scarce, like rare diseases. AI anchors the pipeline: an LLM-based system routes, validates, and synthesizes the data before a physics engine renders the digital twins.

Equipping crazy. What links many of these bets isn't the science itself — it's the falling cost of trying, both financially and logistically. As purpose-built platforms like Co-Scientist continue to empower researchers, you can expect the number of people chasing “crazy” ideas to accelerate.

THE AI ACADEMY

How to turn emails into slide decks with AI

  • Go to Claude, click ‘+’ > ‘Connectors’ > search ‘Gamma’ > Connect

  • Do the same with Gmail + Notion (Notion is optional)

Prompt Claude: “Find my discovery call notes from [client] in Gmail. Pull their project brief from Notion. Create a campaign proposal deck.”

  • Claude will search your Gmail, build a complete proposal deck, pull the project brief from Notion (you can leave Notion out of the prompt if you want).

  • To refine it, just open the Gamma link. Don’t use default templates.

  • Create your brand style and save fonts, colours, logo placement.

Add this to your prompt: “Use my pre-saved style in Gamma.”

  • Now every deck will be customized as per your preference.

Token costs scale with agents. Learn how high-quality context and indexed retrieval reduce unnecessary reasoning, lower token consumption, and improve results, and how intelligent model routing helps enterprise AI systems do more useful work per token.
