OpenAI launches a Partner Program while its legal woes grow

OpenAI launches a Partner Network to fast-track enterprise AI adoption ahead of its IPO: OpenAI’s new Partner Network aims to train 300,000 certified AI consultants by the end of the year who can help companies scale their AI usage. The announcement lands just days after 42 state attorneys general subpoenaed the company over its advertising practices, data handling, treatment of minors, and model sycophancy — a sweeping probe that adds legal risk to OpenAI’s upcoming public listing.

2. AI-referred shoppers outspend traditional visitors by 53% per visit: Consumers who land on retail sites via ChatGPT, Gemini, and other LLMs convert at a 54% higher rate, spend 53% more time browsing, and visit more pages than non-AI traffic, according to new Adobe Analytics data reported by Reuters. It’s yet another signal that LLMs are continuing to influence consumers’ decisions online.

3. Cybersecurity veterans protest the ban on Anthropic's most powerful models: 76 security experts have signed an open letter arguing that the government’s recent export control on Claude Mythos and Fable strips defenders of the best available capabilities. They also argue that the same vulnerability that triggered the ban can be replicated on other frontier models. The group outlined 4 suggestions for regulating AI. Read the full letter.

AI’s impact. Tech layoffs hit 40,000 in May, their highest single month in two years. While AI is often blamed as the cause, some argue it’s just a convenient excuse for overstaffed companies to shed headcount. Stanford’s Digital Economy Lab is trying to get clearer insight with AI Economic Indicators — an evidence-based picture of how AI is actually reshaping work and productivity.

Junior squeeze. Stanford’s data — pulling from 25,000 firms — shows that AI hasn’t triggered a surge or collapse in overall hiring since ChatGPT was launched in 2022. But one demographic has had a different experience: early-career workers ages 22 to 25. For this group, employment in AI-exposed occupations has shrunk at 3.8% per year, while the least-exposed roles are growing at 2.0%.

Feeling the impact. The damage is concentrated in specific roles, with junior software developers and customer service workers seeing the most substantial declines, while less-exposed jobs like home health aides have actually added junior workers.

Hollow pipeline. Stanford is upfront that these are early signals from a fixed sample — not a definitive picture of the global labor market. But if the pattern holds, and AI keeps hollowing out entry-level roles, the pipeline for senior talent will weaken right along with it.
