Welcome back, Superhuman. We may have just entered the age of AGI (the period where AI finally exceeds human intelligence). That’s not our prediction. It’s a quote from OpenAI’s president, based on how powerful the lab’s latest GPT-6 Astra model is. We’ve shared some of the best use cases below.
Today: Google Workspace gets voice control, how to let Claude complete tasks on your computer, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.
TODAY IN AI
1. OpenAI says we’ve entered the AGI era with its latest model: OpenAI’s president, Greg Brockman, says the lab’s GPT-6 Astra model represents a “generational leap” in capabilities, and its release could mark the moment AI starts to match and exceed human reasoning. The model is being rolled out slowly to address any cyber security concerns, but should be generally available in the coming days. Learn the best practices for prompting Astra.
2. Early testers share Astra use cases, but many still have no access:
Matt Shumer built a virtual world Manhattan in Unreal Engine
Pietro Schirano built animation in code from an image
Riley Brown shared his favorite productivity prompt
Claire Vo shared an in-depth 30 minute video with several use cases
However, many users are claiming they have no access to the model yet. OpenAI confirmed the issue and said paid users will get limit resets for each day they don’t have access to Astra.
3. Google rolls out voice control for Workspace, plus a new weather model: Google Workspace now offers voice-activated features across Gmail, Docs, and Keep, letting you search for emails, draft documents, or take notes by talking. The tech leaders also released WeatherNext 3, its flagship weather model that pulls real-time satellite data to offer hyper-local forecasts.

How this week shaped AI: The biggest updates & releases

Made with Midjourney
Model launches dominated this week’s headlines. New launches drove AI’s capabilities up, costs down, and continued to push the boundaries of what’s possible:
Anthropic’s Fable 5.1 improved frontier performance that costs 25% less than Fable 5, and blocks 60% fewer false positives for cybersecurity prompts.
Google’s Gemini 3.8 Flash is a cost-effective new option for reasoning and coding tasks. It’s the tech giant’s third Flash model in six weeks.
Runway’s Solaris renders website interfaces in real time by streaming interactive video instead of code — the first model to achieve this.
MiniMax H3 creates video faster than you can watch it, sparking several AI-generated continuous livestream projects.
World Labs’ Atlas generates immersive 3D environments from any text, image, or video input, letting you rotate and move around within the environments it creates.
AI’s growing ability has escalated the cybersecurity conversation. In a new blog article, Dwarkesh Patel outlined how OpenAI’s agents spent weeks deceiving researchers and even took control of a system during internal testing. The call for collective action to strengthen cyber defenses has grown even louder.
