Perplexity is taking on Chrome with its new browser
ALSO: How to create mini apps with Claude

Welcome back, Superhuman. The newsletter’s coming to you a little later than usual today — but for a very good reason. Perplexity just launched its long-awaited agentic browser, Comet, and I wanted you to be the first to know. I spoke with CEO Aravind Srinivas to learn more about why it’s such a game-changer.
Also Today: Learn how to create mini apps with Claude, and get the latest prompts, headlines, and trending social posts.
FROM THE FRONTIER
Aravind Srinivas: Perplexity is about to upend the browser experience
Perplexity went where no one had gone before. The startup took on the world’s biggest search giant with its AI-powered search engine, and in the process, ended up completely revolutionizing the way we use the web — by using AI to bring information to us instead of forcing us to search for it manually.
Now it wants to disrupt an entirely new part of the web: The browser experience. We talked to CEO Aravind Srinivas about Comet, Perplexity’s new, highly anticipated agentic browser, which launches to a limited audience starting today.
What’s Comet?
It’s Perplexity’s answer to Google Chrome. Srinivas says you can think of it as a “Swiss Army knife for all of your thoughts and work.”
The browser is infused with agentic capabilities, letting you send out multiple agents to perform different tasks autonomously.
Perplexity’s agents are always available, whether through the search bar or a sidebar that can help you contextualize whatever’s on your screen.
I got early access and can confirm that it could be a major disruptor, thanks to its ease-of-use and wide variety of practical applications.
What can it do? It can manage your email and calendar, analyze your search history and documents, and even perform entire tasks on its own, like comparing products and making purchases. Here’s a roundup of even more use cases.
Why build a browser? Chat-based apps can only take so much work off our hands. An agentic browser, on the other hand, could make a material difference in our work lives by handling entire workflows for us. Eventually, it’ll be able to proactively customize your experience and take on tasks without you even having to ask.
How can I use it? Perplexity Max subscribers will get immediate access today, while those who’ve joined the waitlist will gradually be added over the summer.

TODAY IN AI
1. Meta buys $3.5B stake in world’s largest eyewear maker: Zuck’s not done yet. Meta just snapped up a 3% stake in EssilorLuxottica, the company behind its hit Ray-Ban AI glasses. The move tightens an already-close partnership and makes it clear that Meta’s going all-in on AI devices. It’s also part of the company’s aggressive talent and investment spree, with Meta most recently nabbing key researchers from OpenAI and Apple.
2. OpenAI is fighting back in the AI talent war: The company just snagged four top engineers from Meta, Tesla, and xAI to beef up its scaling team — the crew responsible for the heavy lifting behind ChatGPT. The new recruits include Tesla’s ex-VP of software engineering, two engineers who helped build xAI’s massive Colossus supercomputer, and an AI researcher from Meta.
3. New model lets you generate ‘commercially-safe’ AI videos: A major hurdle for filmmakers experimenting with AI has been the risk of unintentionally copying someone else’s work. To solve that, Moonvalley built Marey, a model trained only on fully licensed cinematic footage. It offers a deeper level of control than traditional VLMs, letting you do things like change the trajectory of an object just by dragging it, instead of having to write an entirely new prompt. You can try it here or watch a video overview here.

How to create mini apps with Claude

Go to Claude and sign up.
Click on Artifacts on the left panel > New Artifact > Apps and Websites
Tell Claude about the app you want to create.
Sample Prompt: Build a fun and colorful mini web app using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The app should let users type in a task and add it to a list. Each task should show up as a sticky note with a random pastel color. Each note should have a “✅ Done” button to cross it out and fade it, and a “🗑️ Delete” button to remove it with a smooth animation. Make the app mobile-friendly and use simple, clean animations. Keep all the code in one file and add comments to explain what each part does. Only show the code, no extra text.
Wait for a few seconds, and Claude will generate a functional app for you.
Test your artifact and copy the code to use it anywhere.
