TODAY IN AI
1. Perplexity launches Personal Computer, an always-on AI operating system that does work for you: Perplexity announced Personal Computer, a persistent AI agent that runs on a continuously running Mac mini — giving its Comet Assistant 24/7 access to your files, apps, and sessions. Personal Computer operates in a secure local environment while remaining controllable from any device, anywhere, functioning as a “persistent digital proxy of you.” Watch Personal Computer in action.
2. Anthropic upgrades Claude for Excel and PowerPoint with cross-app context and one-click skills: Anthropic’s Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint now share full conversational context across all open files — meaning Claude can update a spreadsheet, build a model, and drop the output into a pitch deck in one continuous workflow without losing context. The update also brings Skills to both tools. Watch the updates in action.
3. Amazon launches Health AI, a healthcare assistant available on its website and app: Amazon is making its healthcare assistant (Health AI) available for everyone — not just Prime or One Medical members. The assistant can answer health questions, explain lab results, interpret medical records, manage prescription renewals, and book appointments — with the option to connect directly to a One Medical provider for over 30 common conditions. FROM THE FRONTIER
There’s a sweet spot for AI usage — and it’s probably a lot less than you think

Made with Midjourney
AI productivity study. ActivTrak just published a massive workplace productivity study, spanning 1,111 companies and 160,000+ employees. The data revealed something counterintuitive: there’s an optimal usage for AI — and it’s not looping Claude into every conversation.
Intensifying workloads. The study found that AI is intensifying work, not lightening it. Employees who actively use AI tools saw spikes in email time, business management tool usage, and even weekend productivity. It’s clear that high-performing employees are using AI to do more work, not the same amount more efficiently. But AI-fueled productivity also hits a limit.
The sweet spot. Employees who spent 7–10% of their work hours using AI tools had a productivity rate of 95% — higher than both non-adopters and super-users. That’s roughly 50 minutes per day, assuming an 8-hour workday. The problem: Only 3% of users landed in that sweet spot.
The secret formula? ActivTrak's data suggests that employees who refuse to try AI are undoubtedly falling behind. But if you find yourself tabbing to ChatGPT every 10 minutes, you might be better off saving it for high-value projects — and handling the small things yourself.
