Pika Labs launches AI Selves, a digital twin that acts like you and changes over time: Pika Labs, a major AI video startup, just unveiled AI Selves: AI that you “birth”, raise, and set loose to be your living digital extension. 2. The team at Airtable releases Hyperagent, a complete system for building agentic workflows. Airtable CEO Howie Liu announced Hyperagent, a new platform he’s been personally working on that claims to be the “complete system for using and deploying AGI-level agents.” The platform — which always runs on the current most powerful frontier model — can take action across the web, create deliverables, and memorize multi-step workflows to speed up repetitive tasks. 3. Anthropic accuses three Chinese AI labs of siphoning data from Claude: Anthropic announced that DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax ran what it calls "industrial-scale" distillation campaigns against its Claude models. Distillation is a technique where a weaker model trains itself on the outputs of a stronger one — allowing the weaker model to improve its capabilities at a fraction of the cost. Anthropic documented roughly 24,000 fraudulent accounts that generated over 16 million exchanges to extract Claude's most advanced capabilities. The timing is notable, as Washington is debating whether to tighten or loosen AI chip export controls to China.

Exploring AI’s future. An essay published last Sunday has already become one of the most-discussed pieces of writing this year, racking up 21M+ views on X. The team at Citrini Research spent 100 hours researching what might happen to our jobs, economy, and society if AI works exactly as expected.
The dystopian future. The 2028 Global Intelligence Crisis argues that AI could kick off an “intelligence displacement spiral” by 2028. In this future, white-collar workers are displaced en masse by AI, consumer spending collapses, and key pillars of society (labor, housing, government) all suffer. But another article took the same arguments and crafted a very different conclusion.
The intelligence boom. In Michael Bloch’s companion piece, 2028 looks much different. New AI-powered tools make goods and services radically cheaper, increasing everyone's purchasing power. Some workers are still displaced, but instead of drifting into low-wage work, they start businesses and achieve higher incomes. Eventually, the economy adapts — just like it has after every major tech disruption for the past 200 years.
Mass displacement or mass prosperity? Reality will likely fall somewhere in the middle of these two extreme hypotheticals. My suggestion? Read both essays and build a prepared mind — so you can stay flexible as the future unfolds.
