Welcome back, Superhuman. While Anthropic’s chart-topping Fable model is banned by the government, other startups are seizing the initiative to get out ahead of the Claude maker. A Japanese startup just announced a new breakthrough that it claims matches Fable on performance.

Today: Google loses another major figure in talent wars, how to monitor your brand’s AI search visibility, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.

TODAY IN AI

1. Sakana AI claims to match Mythos and Fable performance with new model: The startup just dropped Fugu, a multi-agent orchestration platform that routes tasks across multiple specialist LLMs, claiming the results rival top frontier models without relying on any single one. Available via a single API endpoint, early benchmark results for Fugu are strong, but independent validation is still pending. Try it out here.

2. Google DeepMind loses Nobel Prize winner to Anthropic: John Jumper, who shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, has announced he's leaving DeepMind for Anthropic after nearly nine years. Jumper led the AlphaFold team, which built the AI model that revolutionized protein structure prediction. His departure comes just days after Gemini co-lead and Transformer co-author Noam Shazeer announced he was leaving to join OpenAI.

3. AI’s disruption of the consulting industry hits Accenture hard: Accenture shares fell 18% last week to their lowest level since 2017, after the consulting giant cut its revenue forecast amid a 3% decline in new bookings. Investors are worried that AI is letting companies handle work they once outsourced to consultants, compressing demand across the industry. It’s a stark signal of how rapidly AI is reshaping the consulting industry.

FROM THE FRONTIER

The public’s trust in AI is vanishing. Tech leaders only have themselves to blame.

Made with Midjourney

The techno-optimist pitch is running out of steam. A new Pew Research survey finds that only 16% of Americans believe AI will have a positive impact on society over the next 20 years, while 40% expect it to be a net negative. Young people are the most skeptical: just 14% of those under 30 view the technology favorably.

AI’s PR problem. A UN report projects data center power consumption will nearly double to 945 terawatt-hours by 2030 (roughly Japan's total electricity usage), with AI accounting for 40% of the load. Water consumption is on track to hit 9.3T liters annually. Tech layoffs, meanwhile, have already surpassed 115K terminations through May 2026, with many companies citing AI as a factor.

Tech leaders have actively stoked this fire. For the better part of two years, some of the industry's most prominent voices warned of mass unemployment and existential risk. Sam Altman has famously cautioned that entry-level white-collar jobs are at serious risk. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei predicted AI could wipe out 50% of white-collar work. Those warnings appear to have landed.

The industry is now walking back the doom talk. Sam Altman now says he was “pretty wrong” about his predictions. Dario Amodei has similarly shifted to arguing that AI automation could actually expand what workers do. But repairing public trust after years of apocalyptic messaging may prove to be an uphill battle for the industry.

PROMPT STATION

Identify Business Drains

ChatGPT Prompt: Act as a Strategic Subtraction Consultant. Analyze my business to identify what should be stopped, paused, simplified, or removed to unlock growth. Build a complete inventory of products, services, processes, meetings, commitments, and hidden overhead. Score each item by Value Contribution, Resource Consumption, and Removal Complexity.
Identify and rank the highest-leverage subtraction opportunities, focusing on low-value, resource-heavy activities. For each recommendation, explain why it should be cut, paused, or sunsetted, and map the second- and third-order effects (meetings eliminated, systems simplified, support burden reduced, focus regained, etc.).
Create a phased 30/60/90-day subtraction roadmap showing what to remove first, what requires preparation, and how each cut enables future cuts. For every hour, dollar, and unit of attention freed, specify exactly where it should be reallocated based on my growth priorities. Include owners, timelines, and expected outcomes.
