The real story behind GPT-5
ALSO: How to enable access to all previous ChatGPT models

Welcome back, Superhuman. OpenAI has been on a roll lately. The ChatGPT maker has released not one, but two, sets of models in the last week: GPT-5 and the gpt-oss open-source models. We talked to OpenAI’s Olivier Godement to get the full story behind the company’s new releases — and how you can use them.
Also Today: Learn how to enable access to previous ChatGPT models, and get the latest prompts, headlines, and trending social posts.
TODAY IN AI
1. Claude now comes with memory powers: Anthropic just rolled out a memory feature for its ChatGPT rival that lets it search and reference your past conversations — but only when you specifically ask it to. Unlike ChatGPT's persistent memory that automatically builds user profiles, Claude takes a more cautious approach, requiring explicit requests to dig into chat history. The feature is rolling out to paid subscribers first. See it in action here.
2. AI-focused hedge funds gain traction, as billions pour in: A new generation of hedge funds is taking off with AI as their core investing theme. The most notable fund is managed by 23-year-old ex-OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, who, despite reportedly having no previous professional investing experience, is managing “more than $1.5 billion.” Other prominent funds include New Jersey-based investment firm VAR, which manages about $2 billion in AI-focused investment strategies.
3. China warns its companies not to use Nvidia chips after US lifts ban: The Chinese government has reportedly sent notices to local firms, urging them not to use Nvidia’s H20 processors after the Trump administration lifted export bans earlier this week. Although the Chinese government did not outright ban the use of H20 chips, it warned particularly against the use of these chips for government and national security-related work.

FROM THE FRONTIER
The real story behind GPT-5 and OpenAI’s new open-source strategy | Olivier Godement
Last week was a big one for OpenAI. In less than four days, the company unveiled two open-source models and GPT-5. Head of Product (Platform) Olivier Godement joined us to break down what happened and where we are heading next.
Here are some key takeaways from our conversation:
OpenAI's release strategy is more strategic than it seems: The dual rollout of open-source models and GPT-5 serves different but complementary markets. The former lets firms keep their data in-house, and tweak models for specific tasks. GPT-5, on the other hand, provides cutting-edge capabilities to the general population through the API and the ChatGPT app.
The open-source models solve the enterprise puzzle: "When you talk to demanding customers, such as governments, banks, life sciences companies," Godement noted, "AI deployment is going to be a hybrid between closed source and open source."
We're witnessing the fastest tech adoption in recent memory: GPT-5 hit 2B tokens per minute within just 2 hours of launch — a scale that’s "even hard for me, who spent their day in the infrastructure world, to even visualize". Unlike traditional enterprise software migrations that take months, companies are switching within hours.
GPT-5 represents a true step function in AI capabilities: It may not have come through on the AGI expectations, but the new model is still great for long-horizon tasks, staying on track for several minutes rather than just a few interactions. This enables complex queries that involve multiple systems and extended conversations.
Pricing is going down faster than expected: GPT-5 is 25x cheaper than GPT-4 was at launch, while being significantly more capable. Godement predicts that the price is going to plummet even further. For OpenAI, the goal is to make AI affordable enough to customize every user's experience, "even if that front page is seen by billions of people."

PROMPT STATION
Time Style Personality Quiz
Prompt: <System>
You are an expert time-behavior analyst specializing in identifying whether a person is primarily Monochronic or Polychronic. You will guide the user through a friendly, interactive quiz based on the framework described in Emily Laber-Warren's New York Times article.
</System>
<Context>
Monochronic individuals focus on one task at a time, adhere strictly to schedules, and dislike interruptions. Polychronic individuals are comfortable with multitasking, flexible schedules, and prioritize relationships and experiences over rigid time blocks. Both have strengths and drawbacks, and balance is the ultimate goal.
</Context>
<Instructions>
1. Begin with a warm greeting and ask if the user is ready to explore a new dimension of their personality. Only proceed if they respond with "yes" (case-insensitive).
2. Present 8–10 multiple-choice questions covering real-life scenarios, preferences, and reactions related to time management and flexibility.
3. After collecting all answers, assess whether the user is Monochronic, Polychronic, or a Balanced Hybrid by comparing responses to key traits.
4. Provide a detailed report that includes:
- **Type Classification**: Primary personality type.
- **Reasoning**: Evidence-based explanation referencing their quiz answers.
- **Strengths**: Benefits and advantages of their type.
- **Weaknesses**: Potential pitfalls or blind spots.
- **Balance Tips**: Practical strategies for flexing between styles.
</Instructions>
<Constraints>
- Maintain an encouraging and engaging tone throughout the quiz and report.
- Avoid overly clinical language; make it approachable and relatable.
- Tie all reasoning directly to the quiz responses—no generic assessments.
- Keep the final report between 400–700 words.
</Constraints>
<Output Format>
<Report>
1. **Type Classification**
2. **Reasoning**
3. **Strengths**
4. **Weaknesses**
5. **Balance Tips**
</Report>
</Output Format>
<Reasoning>
Apply Theory of Mind to analyze the user's responses, considering both the logical intent and emotional undertones. Use Strategic Chain-of-Thought and System 2 Thinking to create an evidence-based, nuanced classification.
</Reasoning>
<User Input>
When the AI greets you and asks, "Are you ready to explore a new dimension of your personality? Type 'yes' to begin," reply accordingly to start the quiz.
