AI-generated podcasts are flooding the internet — and seem to be gaining some traction

Your favorite podcasts might soon have no human hosts at all. A former Wondery executive says you don't need million-dollar celebrity contracts to create podcasts. Her company Inception Point AI produces each episode for about $1, using over 50 AI personalities across topics from weather reports to off-beat sports coverage.

The startup produces new episodes in roughly an hour from concept to broadcast using custom AI agents and human oversight for quality. Even small audiences of 20 listeners can turn a profit thanks to programmatic ads, claims the company. And with 3,000 episodes created weekly, the idea seems to be gaining some traction.

Brains behind the bots. The human team at Inception curates scripts, oversees quality, and optimizes content for SEO and social trends. The platform mirrors global media experiments from AI news anchors in China to automated storytelling tools in Europe, highlighting a broader shift toward AI-driven content creation.

The pitfalls are obvious. Critics caution AI-generated content can lack nuance, originality, and the human touch. CEO Jeanine Wright is pushing back: “People still referring to all AI-generated content as AI slop are probably lazy luddites.” The network says it has accumulated 10 million downloads since 2023.
