Welcome back, Superhuman. Anthropic just shrunk the gap between “chatbot” and “agentic assistant" even further with the release of Claude Sonnet 4.6 — a new model that the company claims has "human-level" computer abilities.
Today: Anthropic drops Claude Sonnet 4.6, how to create Instagram product shots with Nano Banana, and the latest prompts and trending social posts.
TODAY IN AI
1. Anthropic launches Sonnet 4.6, an affordable model that excels at computer tasks: Anthropic introduced Claude Sonnet 4.6, a new model that shows “human-level capability” at computer tasks like navigating spreadsheets, updating websites or presentations, and even renewing your car’s registration. The new model matches or beats Opus 4.6 on several key benchmarks — including office tasks and financial analysis — at roughly one fifth the cost. It’s now available for free and Pro users. Watch Sonnet 4.6 in action here.
2. The first major AI documentary drops next month: A trailer was released for The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist — a documentary that follows director Daniel Roher as he tries to make sense of AI while preparing to become a father. The film features interviews with Sam Altman, Dario and Daniela Amodei, and other leading voices in the field, exploring both the existential risks and the extraordinary promise of the technology. The film comes from the Academy Award-winning filmmakers behind Everything Everywhere All at Once and Navalny. In theaters March 27. Watch the film’s trailer here (1M views).
3. Pentagon threatens to classify Anthropic as a supply chain risk: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is reportedly "close" to severing ties with Anthropic and designating the company a "supply chain risk" — a penalty typically reserved for foreign adversaries. The dispute: Anthropic insists that two uses of Claude remain off-limits: mass surveillance of Americans and fully autonomous weapons. The Pentagon argues those restrictions create too much gray area and that it's 'unworkable' to negotiate individual use cases.

FROM THE FRONTIER
Apple is running a completely different race than other AI companies

The staggering capex numbers. Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft plan to spend a combined $630 billion on capital expenditures in 2026 — a figure that rivals Sweden's entire GDP. But Apple? Its expenditures actually dropped 17% last quarter (this viral post outlines the stark contrast). So why does Apple seem so content falling behind?
Building the body, not the brain. While tech giants race to build the best AI model, Apple is focusing on hardware. A new report reveals that Apple is working on three new AI wearables: smart glasses, camera-equipped AirPods, and a pendant employees internally call the “eyes and ears” of the iPhone. Apple’s strategy is becoming clear: it wants to own the distribution of AI — not the model itself.
Apple’s $1B shortcut. That doesn't mean Apple is going without a frontier model. In January, the iPhone maker signed a multi-year deal with Google to revamp Siri using Gemini. The cost? An estimated $1B per year — or 0.24% of Apple’s 2025 revenue. Apple is sidestepping the capex arms race while still leveraging one of the world's most capable models.
But there’s one major risk. Apple is betting that AI models will commoditize, or that intense competition will drive down prices and make it hard for a single provider to hold a meaningful lead. If one company breaks away from the pack, Apple may find itself permanently dependent on a supplier it can't replace.

NanoBanana Prompt: A hyper-realistic 1080x1080 render of a fictional, unbranded retro handheld gaming console, held close up directly in front of the camera by two human hands. The console is matte gray plastic with simple buttons and no branding. Inside the screen, a miniature vibrant 3D world representing [COUNTRY] is displayed with a noticeable pixelation effect reminiscent of classic handheld games—pixel size is fine enough to clearly show iconic landmarks, cultural elements, and scenery unique to [COUNTRY]. Below the screen, the word “[COUNTRY]” is printed in large bold clean white letters, occupying about 25% of the console’s lower front panel width. To the right of the text, a clearly visible flag of [COUNTRY] is printed, sized so its height matches the text exactly. The background is a softly blurred nostalgic 90s/2000s bedroom scene with warm ambient lighting, CRT screen glow, vintage posters, and cozy cinematic shadows.Whenever you’re ready to take the next step
