Anthropic ships OpenClaw rival

Anthropic releases Channels and recurring tasks for Claude Code: Claude Code Channels is a new feature that lets users send messages to existing Claude Code sessions via Telegram or Discord — mirroring functionality offered by OpenClaw. This feature is currently available as a research-preview, and the team has already stated that they plan to expand it. Claude Code also now supports recurring tasks, letting users automate routine workflows.

2. Blue Origin files paperwork to put 51,600 AI data center satellites in orbit: Jeff Bezos’ space startup has officially joined the data center space race with Project Sunrise: a proposed “mega-constellation” of solar-powered satellites that would perform AI compute directly in orbit. The filing puts Blue Origin on a collision course with SpaceX, Starcloud, Google's Project Suncatcher, and several smaller startups.

3. OpenAI plans to nearly double its headcount by the end of the year: While many tech companies are laying off employees due to efficiencies from AI, OpenAI is going in the opposite direction. The AI leader is reportedly expanding its employee count from 4,500 to over 8,000 with hires expected across most departments. The company is also looking for technical ambassadors, or specialists who can help business clients get more out of OpenAI’s tools.

Meet the company using a "cowgorithm" to revolutionize cattle herding

Using AI to herd cattle. The internet is buzzing over Halter, a company set to receive funding from Peter Thiel’s VC firm Founders Fund. The product: An AI-powered collar that herds cattle, powered by a proprietary algorithm that’s appropriately nicknamed the cowgorithm.

How it works. The solar-powered GPS collars send sound and vibration cues that guide cattle, eliminating the need for fences, farm dogs, or manual herding. The collar also monitors digestion, fertility cycles, and other biometrics — helping farmers get 24/7 coverage of their herd’s health.

From rockets to pastures. Halter was founded in 2016 by Craig Piggott, who previously designed spacecraft at Rocket Lab. He quit his job, recruited his former boss as his first investor, and got to work building the company on his family’s farm. Today, over 600,000 cattle wear Halter collars.

Herding is just the start. Farmers are aggressively adopting AI to boost efficiency — from lasers that blast weeds to computer vision systems that inspect meat.
