The company announced a $675M funding round and a partnership with OpenAI to build smarter robots. Investors in the funding round included Jeff Bezos, Microsoft, Nvidia, Intel, and more. Seems like everyone in tech wants a piece of this company.
Figure AI calls itself “the first-of-its-kind AI robotics company bringing a general purpose humanoid to life.“ The company claims that its robots will help increase productivity, address labor shortages, and reduce the number of people in unsafe jobs.
As part of the company’s partnership with OpenAI, Figure’s robots will get access to the ChatGPT maker’s AI models to enhance their “ability to process and reason from language.”

Elon Musk sues OpenAI for abandoning its mission

No one likes getting sued by their ex. Especially if that ex is the richest man in America. Yupp, Elon Musk is the ghost from OpenAI’s past that’s coming back to haunt them.
Almost a decade after cofounding OpenAI along with Sam Altman and others, Musk is taking OpenAI, its CEO Sam Altman, and others to court for abandoning the company's original mission to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity, not profit.
The lawsuit claims that cofounders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman had originally approached Musk to build an open-source, non-profit company. Musk’s lawsuit alleges that the company’s focus on making money is a breach of that contract.
Musk stepped down from OpenAI’s board in 2018 and has been a vocal critic of the company in recent months. He also founded xAI, an AI company that launched a chatbot named Grok last year to rival ChatGPT.
