Google rolls out AI upgrades for photos, apps and games

Gemini is taking over your apps, games, and creative projects. Its new Mixboard Labs experiment lets users build moodboards from templates or text prompts. You can generate visuals like “plan an autumn party in my living room” or upload your own images, making design exploration faster and more intuitive. See the US beta in action here.

Editing just got easier. Photos now lets Android users edit images with AI by using voice or text. Users can remove objects, adjust lighting, restore old photos, or add fantastical elements, with no technical skills required.

The Play Store is also getting AI features. The new “You Tab” feature curates apps, games, and content based on personal interests, while Guided Search, which organizes results by goals such as “buy a house.” AI helps users find what they need faster and in a more personalized way. The updates are rolling out this week in select countries, with more regions starting October 1st.

Gamers got an upgrade too: Gemini Live now acts as an in-game assistant, offering real-time guidance and tips, without leaving the game. The new Games tab tracks stats, achievements, and rewards, while Play Games Leagues let users compete for Play Points, starting with Subway Surfers.

The search giant is also rolling out AI Mode to Spanish speakers worldwide, letting users ask complex questions beyond traditional search.
