How Anthropic's AI stays cutting-edge

ALSO: How to automate research with Claude Sonnet

Welcome back, Superhuman. Now I’ve really seen everything. A footwear startup is sending an AI computer into orbit next year to design its next shoe. The official reason is that it’s more sustainable. Innovation or marketing gimmick? I’ll let you decide.

Today: Learn how to automate research with Claude Sonnet, watch our interview with Anthropic’s Head of Product (API Platform), and get the latest AI tools and trending social media posts.

TODAY IN AI

1. Claude’s Artifacts can now turn your ideas into shareable apps: Introduced last year, Anthropic’s Artifacts tool lets you create and save mini-projects within Claude. Now, Artifacts can tap into the Claude API, letting you build AI-powered apps, games, and charts with simple text prompts. Plus, you can now explore what others have created, from a QR code generator to an attachment-style quiz. Anyone can access the feature by heading to the left-hand panel in Claude.

2. Google unveils its answer to Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex: Gemini CLI lets you write code, edit files, and troubleshoot bugs directly in your terminal using natural language prompts. Plus, it supports model context protocol, video generation, and real-time search results. There are some usage limits for non-subscribers (60 model requests per minute), but for the most part, it’s free and completely open-source, making it especially enticing for independent coders and smaller startups.

3. DeepMind launches powerful, AI-powered DNA decoder: We know DNA plays a role in determining which diseases we’re prone to, but the specifics remain a mystery. DeepMind’s new AlphaGenome, which builds off of the Nobel Prize-winning AlphaFold platform, could get researchers one step closer to an answer. The model could guide us to new synthetic DNA therapies, and scientists have already used it to investigate mutations that seem to correlate with a rare form of blood cancer.

FROM THE FRONTIER

Anthropic’s Michael Gerstenhaber: AI is going to be a force multiplier

If anyone has a sense of where AI is headed, it’s Michael Gerstenhaber. As the head of Anthropic’s API platform team, he works with clients like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Thomson Reuters to make sure they always have frontier-level AI at their fingertips.

Here are some key takeaways from our conversation:

Coding is the ultimate benchmark for AI progress: For one, it’s the native language of software engineers, so it just feels natural to test models this way. More importantly, as Gerstenhaber puts it, “Everybody writes software in the modern world” — whether you’re a medical researcher or an investment banker. So AI-generated code has the potential to reshape the entire economy, not just specific industries.

AI is becoming a force multiplier for solo entrepreneurs: If you’re a top-notch programmer but not so good with content and marketing, LLMs can help fill the gaps. On the flip side, if you’re a great communicator with no technical background, AI’s technical chops can help you turn your ideas into actual products.

The art of prompting is changing fast: Giving models detailed, step-by-step instructions was once the gold standard. But now that models are smarter, it’s often better to give them a starting prompt and let them think through the problem on their own.

Model context protocol is already reshaping workflows: The open-source tool acts as a “USB-C port for AI apps,” letting you tap into the third-party apps you use on a daily basis. It lets you access your company’s own data, not just data the model was trained on.
