1. Microsoft enters the AI browser wars: The Edge browser now includes Copilot Mode, an AI assistant that can see your tabs, summarize pages, and even fill out forms. Microsoft has also introduced Mico, a Clippy 2.0-style expressive orb that talks back and teaches you things in a new “Learn Live” mode. Additional updates include Copilot Groups for collaborative conversations and Real Talk, where the AI shares opinionated responses. Try Copilot Mode in Edge here.

2. OpenAI acquires Sky to bring AI to Mac: The ChatGPT maker has acquired Software Applications, creators of Sky — a macOS assistant that functions as a context-aware intelligent layer. The software (which has not been released yet) reads screens, automates applications, and helps with writing and coding tasks. OpenAI is also expanding the Shared Projects features to all users.

3. Anthropic gives Claude a ‘memory’ upgrade: Claude now lets users automatically recall past conversations, with an option to view, edit, or delete individual memories. Users can also create “memory spaces” to separate work and personal contexts. The feature is now available to Max users, while Pro subscribers will get access in the coming days. The update coincides with Anthropic securing access to one million Google Cloud TPUs — in a multibillion-dollar infrastructure deal.

AI companies want chatbots to feel personal, but Americans are skeptical

AI chatbots want to take the relationship to the next level. Elon Musk’s Grok lets users create personal animated avatars for conversations, while Perplexity offers personalized AI companions. In a recent post, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also indicated that ChatGPT will soon permit mature and erotic content. But a new Pew Research survey finds half of Americans are more worried than excited about AI’s growing presence in their lives.

So what do people want? According to the Pew survey, people are fine with AI handling tasks like weather forecasts or fraud detection, but they want it to stay clear of personal matters. Nearly two-thirds of Americans want AI out of their love lives entirely, and 73% say it should never advise on religion. Other concerns include AI weakening creativity, human connection, and critical thinking.

Even digital natives aren’t thrilled. Young Americans, the ones most exposed to AI, are also the most skeptical. Fifty-seven percent of people under 30 fear it’s damaging their thinking skills, compared to 46% of seniors. Usage patterns mirror this caution. The AP-NORC poll shows only about 4 in 10 use AI for work, one-third for emails or entertainment, and just one-quarter for shopping.

Policymakers echo public concerns. A Stanford study shows that regulators are strongly backing rules on AI, particularly around data privacy (80%) and retraining displaced workers (76%). Attitudes towards AI may soften over time. But for now, it’s the coworker that’s trying a little too hard to be your friend.

  • Go to Grok and sign up.

  • Type a detailed prompt outlining the type of document you're creating (resume, research paper summary, or invoice). Be specific about content, format, and tone.

Sample Prompt: Create a professional CV for a Software Designer with 5+ years of experience. Highlight skills in UI/UX, design systems, prototyping, Figma, and collaboration with developers. Include work experience, education, portfolio links, and a brief personal summary. Create a PDF.

  • Grok will generate a preview of your document.

  • You can make changes by sending follow-up prompts or editing the LaTeX code directly via the Code button.

  • Once you're satisfied, click the Download button to save the final PDF.

You can also use this process for ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other chatbots.
