OpenAI hires OpenClaw's founder
ALSO: How to create McKinsey-grade industry reports with AI

Welcome back, Superhuman. When Peter Steinberger's AI assistant ClawdBot went viral, Anthropic sent lawyers, forcing him to rebrand the project twice. OpenAI took a different approach: they just hired him to lead their next generation of personal agents. Steinberger went from launch to a sort of acquisition in just 8 weeks.
Today: OpenAI hires OpenClaw’s founder, how to create McKinsey-grade industry reports with Kimi K2.5, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.
TODAY IN AI
1. OpenAI hires the founder of viral AI assistant OpenClaw: Peter Steinberger, the developer behind the viral personal AI assistant OpenClaw has joined OpenAI to work on its next generation of personal agents. The assistant (previously named Clawdbot, then Moltbot after Anthropic threatened legal action) has gained a massive following for its ability to automate routine tasks. In a blog post, Steinberger said he could have turned OpenClaw into a major company, but views building at OpenAI as "the fastest way to bring this to everyone." The project will move to a foundation and remain open source, with OpenAI sponsoring development.
2. Exa launches "the fastest web search engine in the world": AI search startup Exa released Exa Instant, a new search tier that delivers results in under 200ms — faster than Google and up to 15x faster than competing search APIs. The speed matters less for humans and more for AI agents, where search is just one step in a larger workflow. If a deep research agent makes 50 search calls and each one is 200ms faster, that's 10 seconds saved. Most search APIs are slower because they wrap Google's results under the hood, which alone takes 700ms+. Watch the launch video here.
3. Simile raises $100M to build an AI lab that anticipates human decisions: Simile, a Stanford spinout, emerged from stealth by announcing $100M in funding to continue developing its AI model that anticipates human behavior. The model lets users run hypothetical scenarios or ask questions and then gain insight into how those scenarios might play out. Simile describes its tech as a way to "rehearse consequential choices" before pushing them to the real world. The launch video has gone viral with over 2M views.

FROM THE FRONTIER
Many companies are slashing entry-level roles because of AI — but IBM is tripling down

Made with Midjourney
Tripling down on talent. 37% of companies plan to replace entry-level roles with AI, but IBM is doing the exact opposite. The tech giant recently announced it's tripling U.S. entry-level hiring in 2026 — across every department. But these aren’t the same roles as last year.
Rethinking entry-level roles. In response to AI, IBM is overhauling how its junior employees work. Instead of assigning new hires to mundane tasks that AI can now automate, the company is placing them in strategic, customer-facing roles that it doesn't trust AI to handle.
It’s a long-term talent arbitrage play. IBM’s chief human resources officer believes that slashing early-career hiring saves money today, but will create a mid-level manager shortage in 3 to 5 years. When that hits, companies will be forced to poach externally — which is costlier, slower, and harder to integrate. IBM is locking in tomorrow's leaders, today.
The contrarian bet. IBM is betting big that humans (especially younger, more tech-savvy employees) will still matter in an AI world. And the strategy passes the logic test: if AI makes employees more productive, wouldn’t you want to have more supercharged employees on your team?
