Slack gets new AI powers

ALSO: How to translate videos into multiple languages

Welcome back, Superhuman. California has become the first state to set rules for AI chatbots. Governor Newsom signed a new AI safety law, which makes companies like OpenAI, Meta, and Character AI responsible for keeping users safe, with age checks, self-harm alerts, and clear “this is AI” warnings. The law takes effect on January 1, 2026.

Today: Slack gets AI powers, Microsoft’s new image model, learn how to translate videos into multiple languages, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.

1. Slack rolls out new AI features powered by OpenAI, Anthropic, and more: The AI-powered Slackbot now drafts project plans, summarizes reports, prioritizes daily tasks, and pulls data from Google Drive, Salesforce, and OneDrive. Slack has also launched a ChatGPT app, letting teams draft content and take action without leaving the platform. OpenAI, Perplexity, and Anthropic can also now build AI assistants that work inside Slack. Currently in beta for 70,000 users, Slack plans a global rollout soon. See the new AI features here.

2. OpenAI partners with Broadcom to build custom AI chips: The companies will design and deploy 10 gigawatts of custom AI computer chips — roughly the power output of ten nuclear reactors. By designing its own chips, OpenAI aims to better match hardware to its AI systems and reduce data center costs by billions. Deployment will begin in 2026, scaling to full rollout by 2029. Broadcom shares soared nearly 10% following the announcement.

3. Microsoft launches AI image generation model: The MAI-Image-1 model is designed to produce photorealistic images, with Microsoft saying it sought feedback from creative professionals to avoid “repetitive or generically stylized outputs.” The Windows maker claims the model processes prompts faster than “larger, slower models”. MAI-Image-1 currently ranks among the top 10 models on LMArena’s image-quality leaderboard. See the model create images here.

FROM THE FRONTIER

AI agents are everywhere. But what does an agent do exactly?

Made with Midjourney

Ask ten companies what an “AI agent” is and you’ll probably get ten different answers. That’s a real problem for workers rushing to deploy autonomous AI systems. Without clarity, teams will struggle to set expectations, measure performance, and manage risks.

Not all agents are built equally. Some AI agents are basic task-followers that execute simple commands like handling FAQs on a website or generating a deep research report. Others think and execute multi-step functions, such as sales agents that research prospects, send emails, and set calls with prospects independently. Most AI agents today operate somewhere in between, as a sort of copilot with some autopilot capabilities.

Three frameworks are helping workers make sense of agents. The first measures what an agent can do, from simple execution to full autonomy. The second defines how humans and AI should collaborate, drawing inspiration from aviation's ten-level system for human-machine interaction. The third tackles accountability when things go wrong. These tools help organizations deploy AI responsibly while understanding its true capabilities.

The future points to teamwork. Just as self-driving cars use defined levels of automation, AI agents will need clear boundaries and human oversight. This “centaur” model, where AI handles scale and speed while humans lead strategy — offers a balanced approach. Teams also need to consider the effects of hallucinations, misalignments, and legal implications. Success comes down to clearly defining who does what before rolling AI agents into your business.

Recommendations
Pick the three headline/body pairs you expect to perform best in each channel.
Show them in a table headed “Top 3 Ads – My Recommendations”.
Beneath the table, list (numbered) why each pair stands out and what could still be refined.

Feedback loop
End by asking: “Could any of these ads be improved?”
If I answer yes, ask what to change, update the ads, and ask again.
Repeat until I answer no.

Guidelines

Midjourney Prompt: A humanoid runner with a retro computer monitor for a head, sprinting down an urban street at dusk. The monitor glows faintly, displaying static and neon graphics. You can use the same prompt in ChatGPT to get similar results, just remove the parameters at the end to get better outputs.
