Zoom launches AI Companion 3 that “transforms conversations into action”: Zoom’s newest AI assistant offers an agentic suite of tools that captures meeting takeaways in real-time, generates post-meeting deliverables, and integrates with common workplace tools like Google Drive or OneDrive. 2. Nvidia debuts Nemotron 3 family of open-source models: The Nemotron 3 family of models includes three models: Nano for targeted tasks, Super for multi-agent applications, and Ultra for complex AI applications. The models deliver leading efficiency for building agentic AI applications through a hybrid latent mixture-of-experts architecture. Nvidia says that these models offer enterprises more openness and performance when building and deploying multi-agent systems at scale.

3. Google DeepMind lead teases Gemma 4 launch: Omar Sanseviero, Google DeepMind’s Developer Experience Lead, posted a link to Google’s Hugging Face page, encouraging people to bookmark and refresh it. The cryptic post sparked speculation that Google may soon release Gemma 4, a new open-source model. Stanford researchers share their top predictions for AI in 2026

2026 will be the year hype meets rigor. After a few years of lofty promises (and valuations), researchers at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI) agree: 2026 will be the year of AI evaluation. The question is no longer “Can AI do this?” but “How well, at what cost, and for whom?”

AI productivity dashboards will emerge. Stanford's Erik Brynjolfsson predicts the emergence of "AI economic dashboards" that will track AI's impact in real-time to help identify exactly where AI is boosting productivity, displacing workers, or creating new roles. Stanford has already started measuring AI’s impact on employment.

Sovereign AI will reshape competition. 2026 will also be a pivotal year for countries aiming to announce their AI independence from the United States, says HAI Co-Director James Landay. He also predicts that there will not be an artificial generative intelligence (AGI) breakthrough next year.

Industry reality checks incoming. The general sentiment from Stanford's researchers is this: the age of speculative excitement for AI is coming to an end, and the age of proving its worth is just starting. This shift doesn’t signal that the AI industry is fading, just maturing.
